As the title states:

"Do .22LR kits for AR15 fall under the 5 round rule?"

Or can I use 25/30/50 round mags. What is the deal with this?

Or since the frame is a restricted firearm:rolleyes: it does not matter what I slap on it, it still has to be 5 rounds?

Or does it get some wierd exception and i can use 10 round mags like in a handgun?

Anyone know the concrete rules to this? I know the logic behind any of our gun laws is fu*ked but just wanted to know.

Thanks.

No and that's concrete!

Great, now anyone care to tell me why i can not use 30rd AR mags or Beta-C's for that matter.... stupid faken government.

Not stirring up s*it just can't believe these laws sometime.... I mean a .22LR and a .223 are both a .22 bullet (technically)

In any case I was just eyeballing the marstar CZ offerings that's all.

Thanks for the help fellas.

Liek someone said the laws are stupid, Someone that can own a hunting rifle can own a 50cal beltfed, but you need a stupid licence for a AR15 that limited to 5rds.

I am actually working on a "bypass the 5 rd law" .22lr drum mag. The prototype will be made of wood and will hold at least 50 rds and if I can get some of the other ideas to work maybe alot more. since this is more of a novelty thing I dont mind that it will take an hour to load. It shouldnt take long to unload in the V22.

At first I couldnt figure out how to make a drum mag that would feed rimmed cartidges reliably but then I saw a shotgun drum mag that had teeth to keep the cases separate and ensure that the rims are lined up right when then enter the straight portion of the mag.

Edit to remove swearing.

WTF are you talking about???? We said there are NO 5rd rules for AR15 with 22 kits. Your free to use whatever cap mag out there.

Also BTW there are companies that make 50rds trums for 10/22.

Why are you confused I have a V22 .22lr kit for the ar-15 and I am well aware that I can have high capacity mags this is why I am making a huge drum mag for it.

Your confused. The law states the 5 round law for centerfire semi autos long arms. not 5 rounds for centerfire restricted longarms. I have an AP-74. This rifle is classed as an AR15 and is restricted. It is a fairly faithful .22lr copy of an early AR15. The capacity of it's mags are 15rds. My registration even states so. Thats that. So it would be OK for the AR15 too. The reg Certificate for the AR15 that one owns would still state 5 rds for the rifle as it uses 223 etc but that is ok and needs not be changed. In fact the CFC does not even want to hear of technical changes unless you change the class of the firearm or change it to of from a frame or reciever only.

Before you ask. This is all from personal experience with the CFC and CPFO.

The only thing I fear about the drop in conversion kits for the AR, is some petty bureaucrat. I could just see some pissant with a rubber stamp trying to pick nits about the Ceiner kits.

Mags designed and manufactured for a rimfire rifle are not limited. Mags designed and manufactured for a centerfire, semi-automatic rifle are limited to 5 rounds.

What gun are the Ceiner mags made for??

See my point?

I don't think it will ever be a problem, but...................

this is what you want!

Hey Setanta,
Cool pic/Good Link. That's what I'm talking about. At $1750US it's a little much for my pocket around this time of year but it's definitively something to think about.

this would fill a nice void in my collection..... cheap to run to boot.

I wonder how reliable this thing is. Also, I wonder if Questar.ca could bring them in ? ? ? ?
