Do any handguns have a useable warranty in Canada?

I don't mean the dealer refunding your money or fixing it out of pocket if it goes south.
I mean the manufacture setting up a warranty center in Canada and fixing your gun within a reasonable amount of time.
If you, say, have a major issue with your Glock malfunctioning, where does it get sent? Back to Glock via your dealer? Would you expect it back within months, a year?
Same deal with Sig?
Ruger?
Or better to fix the damn things out of pocket yourselves?

I have yet to need a gun fixed under warranty but I'd like to stand by a company who allows rapid warranty response to Canadians.

Always wondered this myself!

I know a guy whos preformance center smith 952 acted up and he has to send it back to Mass, shipping was out of pocket but the repair was free. Took like 7 or 8 weeks too.

When i had my ruger p90 which needed warranty i sent it to a location in quebec. Took alittle bit of time but they sent it back fixed with 0 problems in the intrim. Good CS with them.

What I thought I imagined with my Ruger 22/45 Mark III turned out to be a manufacturing error. The dovetail slot for the rear-sights was not perfectly horizontal when the gun was vertical. I had to cant my wrist a few degrees clockwise to see my front sight inside my rear-sights.
Anyway, the slide wouldn't open (after almost a year of frustration and trying two different Williams rear-sights). I sent it to the Ruger designated repair Centre in Quebec. They did take my complaint seriously and sent it on to an armourer. They did admit the error in machining. However since that particular model was no longer being produced they offered to replace it with any of their 22/45 including the new Lite. I opted for the regular 22/45 Mark III with replaceable grips. It's been a few months now and I'm still waiting.

Not even an email saying "by December 2012 or mid-2014."

STI has authorized folks to provide warranty services in the West Coast (DVC Ventures) as well as the East Coast (Freedom Ventures). In my (thankfully) limited experience, both have been top notch and very pleasant to deal with.

One of the main reasons I have a really hard time buying any firearms other than STI.

most other guns if the gun was bought from a certaine importer if you bring the gun back to the store they will send it to the importer and they will warranty the issue but only if the gun was bought through them

x2 on Ruger repairs. I bought a used .45 Colt Blackhawk from a seller on the EE about a year ago. I recently took it to my local 'smith to have the forcing cone polished the cylinder mouths trued. He couldn't do the latter as they were all oversize at .455 (!) I called Ruger and spoke with Karla in Export Sales and she told me to send it to Location Snap Shots in Québec. She even alerted them that it would be coming and would likely need a new cylinder. Took about a month all in all, but it came back with a new cylinder at no charge, aside from sending it to the repair shop. Can't really complain about that.

The only glitch was when Carole at LSS e-mailed me to she needed my registration info. I was baffled as I had scanned it all and put it on the back page of the cover letter, which was in the box with the gun, and a note on the front page that registration etc. was overleaf. I guess they hadn't bothered to read the letter!

BTW, Location Snap Shots is interesting. Curious about the name, I looked them up on a business directory and they are listed as a supplier of theatrical lighting and staging, which sort of explains the name. I then did a Google map search. They're on "Rang Roy", "rang" in French meaning a rural road. Sans blague - they're in the middle of nowhere. Not a hint of their "other" business.

I bought a Uberti 1851 Navy reproduction from a dealer and it locked up solid after cocking it a few times, the dealer offered to replace it but the grips are so nice that I wanted the gun fixed. Stoeger also imports and fixes Uberti products..took a couple of weeks and it worked fine for about six months then the hand spring broke. I decided to fix it myself rather than send it back under warranty and now I feel confident that I can fix any further problems.
