Do "dipped" firearms need to be oiled?

yet another newb question: Do shotguns with a camo-dipped finish need to be oiled externally? Or will the oil harm/wear down the camo finish?

(obviously maintenence of the internals is the same regardless of the external finish).

The camouflage is just ink on top of a sprayed on primer coat. Try a bit of oil on an inconspicuous spot.

I would still lightly oil it. Highly doubt gun oil will harm the camo. Just don't rub the crap out of it every time you oil it if you know what I mean.

Usually in the owner manual they're telling what you can use for the external finish. For my BPS they'Re writing light oil or little water on a cotton towel
