do i have a long action or short?

first of all I know the difference between to 2, but my Santa Barbra Model 1000 chamber in 308 win has 8" center to center on the action screws and 3.25" in the mag well, there was a spacer in the mag but it fell out, it doesn't affect feeding at all works fine. So would this be a long action? It is a commercial mauser action, same as the parker-hale and I would like to rebarrel to a 35 whelan

It is a standard length action. It should feed 30-06 length cartridges fine... try an 06 in the magazine and see...

well a 30-06 fits in the mag just fine

Does it feed is the question. Just fitting the mag won't cut it... if it doesn't feed possibly some work on the rails would be required.
