My Card says 470mm or greater but I have cut the barrel to a legal 18" on a pump, do I have to re register the gun to say 470mm or less?

i would re-register the gun to save myself grief in case you have the gun checked out by the police.i have changed barrels on shotguns and re registered them as it is a simple phone call to the firearms center .the gun stays unrestricted and you have your certificate to show any authority who would question the legality of the gun, legally i do not think it is required as the gun class does not change but as i said it might save some grief if you phone it in .

+1

call, get the new certificate, save a headache later.
I changed barrels on my 10/22, still non restricted, but shorter than 470mm. Simple phone call, less than a minute (once I got through to a real person :) )

I wouldn't call it "re-register" as it is the same gun, but yes, if you change one of the specified characteristics used to describe and identify the gun, e.g. barrel length, you are supposed to inform the Registry.
