Do i need a shell deflector? (SVT)

Got my hands on a B-square mount (from the equipment exchange, yay! CGN is great!), and I mounted a scope to my SVT 40.

The scope is above the bolt, so I am wondering if I need something to keep shells away from the scope. Does the SVT through shells upward like the SKS? I have never noticed what happens to my SVT shells.

I was originally planing on zip tying some metal to the b square rail, but I don't want to ruin the look

Please ignore the fact that I am missing the rear scope cap.... bit of a long story to that.

Try downloading a video off Youtube. ............. It looks like it shoots up on occaision.

Look how it shoots first without the scope. Mine SVT 40 does not need shell deflector it kicks emptys at 2 o'clock to the right
