I allready have my att.If I buy a nother pistol do I need a temp att to take it home or does my att cover it once it's in my name.
You need to apply for a Short Term ATT every time you buy a firearm from a retail store in order to take it home. Might get faxed while you wait or might take several days or more depending on how busy the CFO is. Your Long Term ATT covers your trips to and from authorised gun ranges as described on the authorisation permit and trips to and from a gunsmith after the gun is registered to you and has been taken home with the aforementioned Short Term permit. If you buy through a forum such as this, once the registration process has been completed the seller can mail you the gun (best way is Express Post with sig required) and it can arrive at your door without you having to apply for the Short Term ATT. If you aren't home and you then have to pick it up at the Post Office you can either apply for a short term ATT to take it home or if you "don't know what is in the package or where it's from because you've been kind of busy today" then I suppose it's not your fault when you open it at home only that you get a pleasant surprise.
As I have stated many times and many places before....there is no such thing as a "Short term ATT" This interesting piece of made up paperwork does not exist in law, only in the minds of the pencil necks that run our lives. It is a hold over from the old days of going to the poilce with your new purchase and your hat in your hand, to beg the masters forgiveness and get his blessing for you to take your property home. The shortest time, in law, that an ATT can exist is one year. If you have other info prove it!
As for getting the ATT to take your piece home, yes they want you to get one, nay, they demand you get one, but, there is no legal power in thier "Request". Makes it a lot easier if you just go with the flow though.

Please, for others info sake, quote your source for that or a link...![]()
NAA, where did you find that? If you read further you will find that the minimum time period an ATT can exist is 1 year.
BC Mike, I agree!

Just a point but this refers to an ATT that takes the form of a condition attached to your license.

Is this different then a "normal" ATT?
So, as I said, there is no such thing as a temp. ATT.
Again, lets review, as I have never actually seen an ATT attached to a licence, but I think I will apply for one tomorrow from the Alberta CFO, I will also refuse the non existant temp. ATT they demand I ask for, for the AR-15 I want to take home tomorrow. Last time I started something like this it resulted in the CFO getting a personal phone call from Stockwell Day and told to "Answer the man's letter, now"
