Hi, so I'm starting to look into a shotgun for my girlfriend that would be primarly for deer hunting (so rifled slug gun) since it's the only thing allowed in my area and that could do for turkey hunting as well. I was thinking maybe 1 gun 2 different barrels that would'nt be too much of a pain to swap and sight each time...I was looking into a 20ga since she's very short framed and I think the caliber is plenty enough for both game mentionned but if only available in .12ga then no big issues.
So any suggestions? brand/models? other ideas? It's something for a lifetime so nothing cheap like the mossberg 500 please...
I would like to avoid having to buy 2 different gun if possible.

Thanks!

Beretta a400 and huglu 202b and 103fe are my prefered 20ga guns. None are rifled but all shoot slugs very well and the huglus will be seeing time in the woods for turkey this spring. The a400 xplor is extremely soft shooting

20 is a good choice for what you're describing. I suggest bringing her to a quality gun shop, and let her at least shoulder a number of different guns. See what she likes

I am partial to my Benelli M2 20 gauge. Haven't tried slugs through it but any Foster style slug should work. It's light and reliable. Another option would be a 20 gauge Remington 870 if you can find one. Wish I hadn't sold mine.

If I were you I would look around hard for an older but not abused M87 Ithaca. All M87 Ithaca are three inch capable. Not so with all M37 Ithaca.
A twenty inch iron sights smoothbore barrel for deer and then a longer barrel for bird hunting and replaceable chokes. Ithaca Deerslayers been doing it since 1959.

my two bits....
