Do-it-all clay buster?

Just wondering what everyone would suggest for a do-it-all clay gun? So everything including trap/skeet/5/sporting clays, singles and doubles?

I tried a Beretta A400 semi and found it very pointable and easy to hit with, much more than the O/U's I tried.

Would it be a good all arounder for starting out?

What about the cz912, considerably less money, comes with a full set of chokes, etc.

I used to be a Rem 870 fan boy, then.. I switched to a Mossy 930, field/security combo..
Comes with the 18" and the 28" barrel, a bag of chokes, the front sight on the 28" is a red fiber optic style thing..

Honestly, I used an 18.5" barreled 870, and I could do fairly well with trap shooting, but with this new 930, I don't miss, the recoil is cut down, as well.

I've shot a few Beretta's, my buddy and his parents, that seems to be all they own. The A400 he has is definitely nice, but it's not something I'd want to take out for waterfowl, I'd be afraid to damage it.. The 930.. Well, it's going to be abused this hunting season, that's for sure.
 
Simply because you use the words starting out, I'll recommend finding a cheap pump (500 or 870) on the EE and get a second barrel. I have a Lakefield Mossberg I picked up on here with 2 barrels for $200. Both WERE 30" full choke, but I cut one down to 19", no choke for skeet and left the other full length for trap. Cost effective and a good way to start getting your fundamentals down, and the barrels change in a matter of seconds to go from one game to the other.
 
Ive got an 870 express tac right now, I just want something with more sporting aspect to it. The blue a400 xcel is neat

The dt11 I tried was nice, too :p

Find a good reliable gun that you like to look at, that fits you and you can shoot it. Starting skeet shooting and sporting clays/5 stand with a pump gun will be frustrating. You'll find yourself rushing your first shot ( and missing) so that you can rush to pump and pick up a double ( and probably miss that one too). I know from experience.

I personally don't like o/u guns. I find they fit funny, the stocks are short, the combs aren't high enough, and they just plain feel weird. This may not be the case for all, but it IS the case for everyone that you won't shoot as well with a gun that you find uncomfortable with or doesn't fit properly.

If you like semis, they will definitely do the job. You need to find yourself a RELIABLE gun. I went through a couple of used guns that did not do the job. I got a Remington 1187 that had some kind of firing pin problem and would not fire ( clicked, but firing pin did not hit the primer), and a Smith and Wesson that would fire randomly ( pull the trigger, no click, no fire. release trigger, give the gun a shake, and it fired). I was just about ready to give up after these two. There's nothing worse than shooting poorly, and having every gun you try **** up. Finally, I received a lightly used Beretta 391 Technys as a gift from my mother that was bough from my grandmother's estate. It functions perfectly 100% of the time. Problem solved. I spent a year shooting it poorly. Turns out the fit wasn't perfect and I was shooting underneath all the birds. I solved that problem with a piece of foam pipe insulation on the stock until I can get an adjustable comb put on.

Also, don't worry too much about barrel lengths. I picked the brains of all the old guys at the club and the general consensus is that your 26" barrel on your skeet gun will make not a damn bit of difference when shooting trap (even though some guys use 28" or 30" guns for trap.)

I cant comment much on the shotgun but try posting in the hunting and sporting shotguns section. Those guys will know alot more about what youre looking for. Not many of them pass thru here.
 
I love my Beretta's I have used my 391s for pretty much everything from skeet/trap, sporting and then out the same day to blast some geese all with the same gun.
 
I shoot trap with my uncles Beretta 682 Gold E. I could never afford one myself, but it is an awesome gun, and it seems I can't miss with it. I guess O/U shotties just agree with me. I can also hit pretty consistent with his Browning silver hunter. I've never seen either gun give him any trouble.
