Indeed, I was thinking plug weld the coupling on. Or cutting off the protruding bits and wrapping with fiberglass. I would have to make the floor plate detachable for cleaning.
I just have a stick welder, so I have little hope of a nice bead along the junction of the 2 mag bodies.
Anyway, a person can do what they can with their tools and skillset. Most people could improve on the above as a Sunday evening project.
