good stuff,..but I don't like the lapping the thread thing......I would have cut the thread off and started over, I'd give up 7/8" of barrel for a job done correctly. And use a real threading tool from the start. Not to mention that now he has a receiver with bastardized threads.....a rebarrel down the road :?: :shock: , not likely...if the 'smith knew what had been done previously.... :roll:
 
Since the article does not say that he took the lathe out of gear or removed the barrel etc, why did he not take one more pass with the threading tool? It sounds like he was only a trifle shy in how deep he threaded the reciever.
For Rembo--- what are you referring to as a "real threading tool"? The apprentice smith appears to be using a standard lathe threading tool to me at least.
