So I have a Rem700P in .308.
It shoots 175 SMKs at 2690fps.
According to the ballistics programs I need about 360" of elevation from my 200 yard zero. This was confirmed as correct in the field.
I have a Bushnell 6x24 4200. It has a total adjustment from top to bottom of 190 1/4" clicks. It is mounted on a Near -25MOA base with low TPS rings.
My 200 yard zero has me 56 1/4" clicks off the bottom of the scope and 134 1/4" clicks from the top.
Now the problem is of course, I need 144 1/4" clicks to reach my 1000 yard goal. I'm at least 10 1/4" clicks away even if it was assumed to be desirable to shoot with the scope maxed out.
So what do you figure?
a) Dummy! You must have installed it wrong because those figures don't add up.
b) Try and find a -30 MOA base)?
c) Ditch the scope and get one with more adjustment (cost is an issue with me).
d) Use Burris Zee rings with inserts to gain a little extra MOA?
e) Do what I did last year to compensate and dial it in close and use my mildots to make up the difference?
I'm trying to solve this before the shooting season starts in earnest.
