winter gets boring. No range time except to a match once a month or every two months.

Nope, too cheap to buy snap-caps and to paranoid about damaging my gun dry firing without snap caps...

The improvement in your skills at the range will make snap caps seem cheap. Even though it has been established you can dry-fire most centre-fire handguns without a problem.

I simply learn how to change a broken firing pin and I'm good to go. (Even though I havn't broken a FP yet)

I follow the drills in Steve Anderson's book: REFINEMENT and REPETITION. It's excellent.....

Dry Firing .....

.... Yes ! But that was before I "retired" ! It's cheap, effective and builds motor memory, 'used to practice "drawing and firing" in front of a full length mirror. Always felt like a fool, but that was nothing new, and I figured a small price to pay ! ..... David K. .....;)

I don't do as much as I used to, or should. I will do more now due to this thread though. :D

You guys should really stop worrying about your firing pins. If you truly believe you will hurt your center fire from dry firing order a new pin and get practicing!

Dry firing is a long proven training technique. It's great practice for trigger control and sight picture. It will NOT bother a centre fire firearm of any kind. And besides, how would Clint Eastwood and John Wayne survive in all those movies without my help?

hahaha, lately Ive been performing dry firing exercises with my glock 17 by placing a dime on the front sight and training the sights on the center of a cross on the wall at about 10 feet away. pull the trigger and try and keep the dime from falling off and keep the sights on the center of the cross. my record is 5 in a row....any one ever try this?
