I'm a traditionalist so its wood and blue for me. I understsnd all the points made about moisture, dings etc but I've never had a gun get rusty. Rust is neglect. It only takes a min to pull an oily rag from a bag and give the metal a quick wipe on the hunt and a few minutes to pull a gun down, dry it and lube it at the end of the day. I prefer the look of bluing so I'll take the time to clean it and maintain it. Cerakote is an easier less laborious finish for factories to use and that equates to $ saved in time. As for marks and dings well I am sure regardless of choice of finish and materials anyone who hunts would agree that all those marks and dings are what adds to the character of the gun over time and remind us of past hunts. I love that worn blued look on old guns. It makes the imagination wonder about that guns history and stories.
