Do you think a CX4 in 40 S&W could do this fine or would the 100m part be pushing it? I'm thinking it would be pushing it. It may be a job for the AR

Course of Fire - There are 5 individual matches.
- PTR1 is a deliberate-fire match of 10 record shots in two 5-round magazines, in a 7-minute time limit. It is fired from the prone position at 100 yards on a Figure 11 target.
- PTR2 is a deliberate-fire match of 10 record shots in two 5-round magazines, in a 7-minute time limit. It is fired from the sitting position at 75 yards on a Figure 11 target.
- PTR3 is a deliberate-fire match of 10 record shots in two 5-round magazines, in a 7-minute time limit. It is fired from the kneeling position at 50 yards on a Figure 11 target.
- PTR4 is a deliberate-fire match of 10 record shots in two 5-round magazines, in a 7-minute time limit. It is fired from the standing position at 25 yards on a Figure 11 target.
- PTR5 is a run down match of 20 record shots in two 10-round magazines. It will be fired from the 100, 75, 50, 25 and 15 yards. Each advance will start on command of the RO. At each distance 2 shots are to be fired at each of 2 fig 11s. There will be 15 seconds between advance commands. Only ten shots on each target will count.

Is that the CoF for the CLEFG...?

'Looks very familiar...

I did it one year with a 9mm CX4....
'Did okay, but really it all depends on the competition your up against.

Yes it is. It's close by this year so I thought I'd give it a try. It may be easier with an AR with a 14.5 barrel but the CX4 may make it more of a challenge. I'm looking at buying a new Black Rifle and this may help me decide. Is the competition pretty stiff in the shooting categories?

I'm not sure what kind of groups your CoF requires to score well, but Storms will generally score 'A zone' hits on an IPSC target out to 100 yards in our Tactical matches.

It can depend on the shooter, of course, but some AR15 shooters can't score those A zones either.;)

It's a great day of competition... 'See ya there.

Depends who shows up...:D
If the team from Bruce Nuclear is there you'll see them take most of the gold.
That said.. I have managed to win a few medals over the years, but that and a $1.28 will get ya a medium coffee at Timmy's :D

The bullseye of the figure 11 is about 3 X 6 so whatever gun you chose needs to be able to group into that at 100 Yards or you will be losing points just on your equipment.

I think it's actually smaller.. 2"x4"... I'll check when I get home.
Don't sweat it... There's a chance the CoF and targets will be a bit different come match day... They'll work with whatever they have on hand.
Last years matches were great... the targets were practical.
Remember, these matches are geared towards LE shooting... It's not a bench-rest match :D

I can't see why would this course be pushing for Cx4 in 40 S&W. Firstly, correcting G37, unless someone seriously pushing his handloads 135gr bullet will not fly at >2000 fps. A bit on a high side. Although my latest loads for 357SIG made 115gr bullets fly at ~2000fps and 90 grainers at >2100.

Back to pushing question - all one will have to do is to get used to trajectory, because there is a little bit of it at 100 yards. Aside from trajectory I think Storm is adequately accurate to compete. I shot hunter shoot with it, didn't win just because sighters were not allowed but was really close. While practicing I was able to hit reliably 2" flat bar at 85 yards, practically 100% of shots from prone.

There are few things need to be worked on though IMHO. Sights either replaced with rail-mounted ones or scope because original iron sights are junk and not very solid.

Trigger will definitely need to be tweaked, it is easy to do and has been discussed to death earlier.

Ammunition will have to be tested and then you either load up on a right stuff or roll your own. From my experience FMJ stuff generally not accurate, you need hollow point bullets or flat point.

yeah I was off with the 2000fps prediciton heheh...

I can get 1500fps (pushing it hard) in my 10mm 4.25" pistol with 135gr Noslers... a 16" barrel and .40S&W perhaps could see 1800fps?

That would be awesome and as 22lr says, with good optics (or good irons) it could be done.
