what do you guys use for bringing in the deer to your stands .as there is plenty of this stuff for sale on the market today .

In Ontario we are limited to the artificial types. IMO the real stuff was far superior. Doe in Estrus by Wildlife Research is a favorite, I have also used Tinks, and Code blue with success.

Years ago, I watched a young buck approach a tree where I had placed a few drops on the tips of a branch. He sniffed, and jumped back shaking his head, and snorting lightly. He showed no sign of recognizing my trail, he came from straight down wind of the scent, straight to it. I let him pass. BTW I was cross wind on the ground about 30 yards from him in Orange vest and hat.

Are both Tinks 69 and 69-X legal for use in ON?

I used to sometimes use the real stuff when it was allowed. I haven't tried the synthetic products yet. I found that it all depended on the deer, some it would draw in, but most would not pay any attention to it and walk on by.
On one particular day a couple deer walked by the scent totally ignoring it, then a young buck came out , caught wind of it and had his nose to the ground the entire way towards my stand, about 70 yards. I got him literally right below my stand about a three yard shot.

I have tried all kinds including the old Buck Stop Brand back in the 90's and never had anything actually come into it but it did work well to cover my scent, had deer walk right over my tracks in and no idea I was there.... which was good enough for me.
This past year I tried the smoking sticks I found them too strong for my liking.

When I find real urine in the snow I sometimes pick it up and take a whiff. All of the synthetic stuff smells nothing like real deer urine and if it does draw in deer it's because of curiosity, not because they think there's another deer in the area. I've had enough poor results, when compared to real urine, to realize it's simply a waste of money.

Several seasons ago, I bottled some natural doe urine from a harvested doe. Later, I dipped a Q-Tip in the natural, and a 2nd Q-Tip into some synthetic, then stuck the Q-tips into 2 zip-lok bags.
Went 40yds upwind of our deer hounds, first brought out the synthetic... zero reaction. Then, took the Q-tip of natural out of the ziplok, still 40 yds, ALL 4 dogs reacted instantly. Eventually, I brought the synthetic Q-tip out and let one of the dogs sniff it directly. The dog recoiled, then kept shaking its head, clearly hated the smell. Did the same with the natural, and couldn't get his nose away from it.

If it doesn't fool a deer hound, it won't fool a mature buck in my opinion. I do not use, and never will use, synthetic deer urine as a deer attractant. When it was legal to use in Ontario, I primarily used HS Premium estrus plus in the squirt bottle.

You bring up a good point and my hound is the same way. Some of it is so far off I can pretty much guarantee the people who made it have never smelled real deer urine before.

For those who do use synthetic scent and haven't smelled real urine, I encourage you to smell some urine soaked snow the next time you're hunting. Stir a stick in the snow and take a sniff....

I have had good luck with Hunters Specialties, doe estrus ### scent wafers. They are sold as 3 plastic wafers in a snap lid container. You can pin them on your pant leg or on a branch below your stand. This November was a typical example....I had a young buck refuse to leave me....came in to my ground blind three times one evening. However, the main reason I'm convinced these work, is that I have a deer farm across the road from my home. I once hung a wafer on the fence a 1/4 mile upwind of a group of bucks. Once they caught wind of it, I had an immediate reaction! They ran over to it at top speed. I had to quickly take it down, for fear of them injuring each other.
I am also convinced that these only work during the rut. A deer is easily going to smell you in addition to any cover scent.

I'll have to look up the name of the product but it's from ELLWOOD EPPS. (It's in a small white bottle with an orange label.) When I've put it on a branch, I've had deer tracks right up to it. I've also watched a buck walk straight to it in the bush and stay there, continually smelling it. I don't care if it smells like doe urine or my shorts after 6 days, it is effective and I've watched it work.
