Hi I remember reading this book quite a few times when I was a boy at my grandparents place, it is a memoir of the North Shore Regiments time in ww2 written by their chaplain R.M Hickey.

I was talking with my uncle the other day and he told me something that I didn't know until now. There is a portion of the book that talks about the 8th infantry division which the North Shore Regiment was part of during the Bourguebus ridge part of operation goodwood, in the chapter there was apparently a part about the aid station getting shelled by an 88 and a soldier being blown off the operating table, that soldier I found out to be my grandfather who was already injured from a tiger tank shelling a small house they were taking cover in.

I didn't really know my grandfather that well since he passed away before I really was old enough to speak to him about many of these things and I don't believe he really spoke about many of the things in his service but I have managed to put together many things from the few times he spoke about France to my aunts and uncles.

I know there are a few copies of the book floating around in my family but are in storage right now many hours away from me, if anyone has the book and could scan that passage it would be much appreciated by me as I'm putting together a memorial book for my grandfather.

Thanks in advance.

Neal

If all else fails, go to dub dub dub abebooks dot com. It is an online book listing site. You will find any number (or not) copies at various used book sellers. Good luck.

I could not find the info you are looking for in the book. There is a reference to Bourguebus area but it was used as a rest area. Is it possible the info your looking for may be in the Regiment by Farley Moat?

Thank you for looking, my uncle must be talking about another book, I'll try the Farely Moat one. Funny about the reference of Bourguebus being a rest area, from other reading of mine after the Carpiquet airport the Bourguebus ridge was the most losses for the regiment at one time.
