Hi guys!
I cannot find any combinations in the manuals I currently have for the following:

Unique powder
Red Dot powder
700X powder:

Using the remington sp12 wads.

I am hoping to keep my shot weights between 1-1/8-1-1/4 ounces.

I have two bags of these wads and would like to load em up to make use of them.

Thanks guys! See what you can come up with

SP12 wads were intended to be used with 1 1/4-1 1/2 oz. heavy field loads with rather "bulky" powders. The only references for 1 1/4 oz loads and Unique powder I found was in the Hercules (now Alliant) 1980 Reloaders Guide... as follows:

Peters Blue Magic hull...which has been long discontiued... Rem 97 primers, also discontinued, 1 1/4oz shot, SP12 wad and 23.0 grains of Unique with a chamber pressure of 9800psi at 1220fps.

Also in the 1984 Hercles Reloaders Guide a recipe using Federal High Power hulls as follows:

Fed. High Power hull, Fed. 209 primer, 1 1/4 oz shot, SP12 wad and 25.5 grains of Unique giving chamber pressures of 10,200psi and 1330fps.

Further, Unique is best suited for heavy 1 1/8 oz. heavy field loads which results in a lack of data using this powder and the SP12 wad collumn combination. As for your Red Dot and the 700X, these powders are intended for target loads and light field loads of 7/8, 1, and 1 1/8 oz charges. Loading these fast powders with heavy payloads such as 1 1/4 oz. would result very dangerous chamber pressures, damage to firearm and possible injury to shooter and bystanders.

I assume no responcibility should you use this information and would strongly suggest you invest in a good shotgun loading manual.

Thankyou M12shooter, but you need to read my post!
I have manuals, but was hoping some other manuals might contain this info.
One manual has some different recipes than another.

I am very well aware of the uses of the different burn rates(different powders).

Thankyou for trying to help though.
By the way I forgot to mention I have "Winchester AA hulls".

Model12 is right on the use of that wad, it was not made for 1 1/8oz. loads but for 1 1/4 and 1 3/8 oz. and thats prolly why you don't find loads for them.

Sorry about that DT:redface:! Should have read your post more closely. All I can suggest would be to find a friend with a bit of Herco or Blue Dot kicking around and you will have yourself enough late season sharptail and rooster loads for many years to come:)

No problem M12shooter.

I know these wads are used for heavier shot weights, but my shoulder has Aurthritis in it now. I am trying to keep the recoil down a little. Darn body wont take the recoil anymore! LOL!

I just would like to use these components up with a published load.
I may just have to buck up and load some 1-3/8 oz. loads.

I have descided to sell my MEC. press, so I am planning to load up all of my components before it goes.
it doesnt pay to reload shotshells for upland game anymore.
they are so cheap to buy at the trap club.

And thanks for the pecautionary comment BEN. we do have to be careful in this stuff!
lots of pressure right next to our faces!
