I'm half was done my 300wm distance gun project, I need to choose a powder to start my reloading ladder. I chose Varget for my 308 as it is very temperature stable. I would like to do the same with the 300. Any help would be great.

Ive had great results with H1000. I chose it after lots of online research saying its a go to powder for the 300wm. So i bought a bottle and tested it out. And what i do when i find a good load is put 5 rounds in the freezer for a couple hours and shoot those and see the speed and POI change.

I just found that chart, it looks like the best options are Hodgdon H4831SC Superformance at 0.08fps/*f, H1000 at 0.21fps/*f and Retumbo At 0.49fps/*f. IMR-4831 changes at 1.10fps/*f, IMR-7828 at 1.36fps/*f and Reloader-25 at 1.59fps/*f.

I think I will likely go with the H1000 due to availability, Has anyone seen H4831SC Superformance regularly sold?

It's just H4831sc, superformance is a different powder. The H1000 advice is good if you're shooting bullets at around 200gr and higher. If you're running 168-178gr range go for H4831sc.

H1000 can also work with lighter bullets. I use it in my 25-06AI with 115 Bergers. Also use H1000 for shooting 215 Bergers out of my 300 WIN MAG. It does seem very temp stable and they say it is also a cooler burning powder that's easier on throats.

Don’t have anything big enough to use it in.
