Does anyone have any info about this scope? Telescope Bearing.

R.E.L. CANADA TELESCOPE BEARING NO. 10 MK. I.

Have never seen one before. It almost has to be for warships. I'm picturing a circular base with a compass, with a pin sticking up in the middle. This item rotates around it. The arrow at the rear points to the compass.

For example, get a bearing to that ship. Point the scope, then read off the bearing from the compass where the arrow points. The compass would have to be backwards with 0/360 where 180 would normally be.

It has lovely clear optics with a crosshair.

Anyone have any info/pics/ideas?

I have something similar off a gun director.

but mine is marked elevation not bearing.

a gun director used both.

I think Woodchopper has it right. Google 3.7" director or Kerrison Director.

I think you two have got it. I find reference to both a bearing scope and elevation scope.

Interesting. Had never read about gun directors. Some interesting analog technology there, from long before WWII even.

The Americans got quite an advantage due to their advanced system.

Mine is british and has a built in light, also I thin mine has larger lenses.
