Does Anyone Here Have a Standard Manufacturing DP-12 Gen 2?

Have been on a bit of a buying spree, knowing that my gun budget will likely not be as free flowing post impending marriage as it is now. So I got one of these recently - always wanted one actually since I saw them 8-9 years or so ago (when they were much cheaper) - but we had better selection of stuff back then, so I forgot about these DP-12s... I think of all the guns I have seen in the past 10 years, this one is the one I have handled more than any other in store (that I didn't buy, until recently)

Just wondering if anyone can validate the following on these...

1. They made the stock lighter on these on Gen2, but at what cost? I have read elsewhere that the Gen2s may not be solid aluminum but a polymer hybrid of sorts of over an aluminum skeleton. Is this urban myth? Wouldn't be surprised given the cost-cutting that many companies do.

2. Why, oh why, did they continue to use MOE slots on these instead of MLOK? Gen2s came out in late 2025. I think MOE was discontinued like 15 years ago. It's like selling a current car with a CD-player. Not a whole lot of retailers are selling MOE rails - I found an MOE to MLOK adapter so may try that. If the handguard was easier to take off (maybe it is) I can probably see if I can install the T nut on one side and screw it in through the MOE slot, so it kind of takes advantage of MLOK through MOE though doing it a bit differently.

3. After you insert rounds in the magazine is there a way to eject it without cycling them? I know for my other semi autos, I can pull out a section to release rounds in the magazine - not sure how to do it here.

4. Are these not meant to be taken apart? Seems like there is some roller pin that prevents disassembly.

The thing is hefty, especially with 14 dummy rounds installed. At the very least, anyone entertaining this for HD purposes can use the DP-12 as a cudgel on the home invader (or a protective shield), should the thing jam or something....

Tenda used to have various sizes of MOE Picatinny rails a few years ago but I suspect they sold out by now. If you can’t find a solution send me a PM.

No experience with that firearm, but it looks interesting.

Thanks for the offer. I have sourced a rather expensive (all things considered) MLOK to MOE Magpul adapter off Amazon. It arrived today but I may send it back because it looks like unlike MLOK that you can install it directly on the handguard without removing it, it appears that the MLOK to MOE adapter essentially two parts - a polymer rail MOE rail piece that fits over the MLOK accessory and fits onto the recoil lugs. There are screws and a rounded nut that goes on the other end, but the nut doesn't fit into the MOE slot so it requires the disassembly of the handguard (which I am not sure I want to do given that the DP-12 seems to be very much disassembly unfriendly.

If I had to remove the handguard, I could have just done the same thing with the MLOK screw and t-nut since the nut doesn't fit through the MOE slot anyway just like this thing.

The foreend is also so sealed up, there's no way for me to get that rounded MOE nut in there from a different angle and hold it while I screw it in.

I may try to loosen what I think are the handguard screws and see if it is easily removeable. There is another place I could put the light where the MOE slots are more in the middle outside of the handguard but a flashlight would look goofy there. Probably no harm in trying the handguard.

Unfortunately there is not a single video out there on how to use this MLOK to MOE adapter but that's not really the issue for me now as much as it is needing to take the handguard / forend / pump piece out.

EDIT: Ok, that wasn't hard, except for losing 1 nut from a tiny screw...

I have read negative things about the polymer/ aluminum hybrid chassis and new barrel profile on the Gen 2. Some say the new polymer/aluminum receiver doesn’t feel robust or solid enough to withstand repeated and rapid 12G fire. Complaints about flex as well.
Rapid and premature wear due to lighter construction was a concern but not yet a reported problem that I could find.
There were some concerning reports about the new profile barrels exploding. A shooting instructor was badly injured apparently…
Therefore, I’ve decided that if I were to go the DP-12 route in the near future , I’d be looking for an excellent to new cond Gen 1.

Glad you got things sorted out in the end by the sounds of it. It’s unfortunate the adapter was so expensive because the actual Magpul rails on tenda were only $10 (+/- depending on length) a few years ago, was a great way to get over the free shipping threshold and have some extra bits & pieces for projects, etc.
