I know a guy in Saskatchewan was making his own stens (########) a few years ago but I guess that got shut down. As far as I know they aren't prohib so would importing one from the states be an option? I'm not far from the border so I could drive down to a buddy who lives in the states and pick it up to drive back here but my only concern would be if the CBSA seize it thinking it's a converted full-auto (12.3).

Thanks in advance!

You cannot export parts or guns from the U.S. A. without a permit. You need to go through a licensed exporter like IRUNGUNS. Also the laws in the U.S. A are different than here. The original magazine housing in Canada for a STEN is the prohibited part as it has the serial number . Where as in the U.S.A it is the tube which is the prohibited part and the magazine housing is OK.

Plus if you are importing a semi auto sten it must have a FRT . Some already have one. But if yours is new design it must be sent to the RCMP for classification and get a FRT number, This can take years

The thread on the milsurp.com forum is still available with the build instructions but I thought there was some issues with the FRT and the RCMP trying to reclass them as prohibited. Maybe someone with access to the table could chime in here?

They did not like the ones that fired from the open bolt . But I think the new designs from Indianapolis Ordnance fire from a closed bolt. The lab is currently on the "only a firearms business can manufacture a firearm" opinion

I think you can own all the parts to assemble a Indianapolis Ordnance STEN except the mag housing. That would have to be built from scratch. Why the mag housing is an issue is beyond me other than that is where the serial number is located. The mag housing has nothing to do with the type of fire that come from the STEN. A full auto, a converted auto , a semi auto and a dewat STEN all have the same mag housing
