Does anyone make a 7.62x39 in a youth configuration?

My wife just got her PAL and wants to go for whitetail with me next year. I've set on the caliber I want 7.62x39 because in todays ammo shortages you can still find plentiful ammo for her to practice with.
I was just at my local bass pro today and the ammo selection is pretty much none existent here.
She is petite and my rifles are much to big for her.
Is there any company that makes a youth stocked 7.62x39 rifle?
I've been thinking maybe the MRX Bison if they ever actually get released.

Thanks in advance.

SKS has a pretty short stock, if you want a bolt action I'd look at either a CZ or a Ruger American and maybe an after market stock or chassis. The CZ you could shorten the stock yourself, CZ made a youth stocked version at one point, but I've never seen one.

The CZ is nice but the American's shoot well and are a bit easier to mount a scope lower.

If you want a "tactical" bolt action carbine then you have to wait for the MRX Bison. If you want a bolt action, light and handy hunting carbine then the Ruger American Ranch in 7.62x39mm would do the job.

CZ 527 carbines are discontinued this year. Some stores are selling what they have. The CZ 527 is a very nice little well made rifle. If you can get a gunsmith shorten the LOP, it will be an ideal youth rifle.

as has been said, the cz527 used to have a "youth" model with a 12 3/4" LOP vice the "standard" carbine which has a 13 1/2" LOP. You can always have the standard stock shortened.
The laminate varmint stock also has a shorter LOP (can't find the actual measurement but it's definitely shorter) than the standard stock, but is wider.

Cz527 all the way! Get the stock shortened and put on a nice recoil pad.. The Ruger American ranch is not even close to the same class, imho

Serb Ppu hunting ammo was in stock the last time i checked my Canadian Tire. Around$20/20 shots, about the best deal you'll find for hunting ammo.

The ranch is not in the same class as the CZ for sure being cheaper, easier to find magazines, easier to mount a scope low, currently available, and shoots as good or better.... :)

I do understand Larry's point though about the more expensive CZ being more refined... I've almost bought one several times over the years.

The later 527's allow for lower scope mounting. Love my 527 Carbine and will never sell it. I wish I can pick-up 4 more: 223, 22 Hornet, 6.5 Grendel and 300 Blackout. Well made and handy rifles. I have three mags for my carbine.

Did they change the shape of the bolt on the 527? I just figured if I ever bought one I would mount a rear peep sight and call it a day.... :)

I know people scoff at the idea, but an SKS would make a good close range deer rifle. I have an old beater Chinese SKS that we made into a straight pull bolt action by simply plugging the little hole from the gas chamber to the barrel. We used an Allen head little screw that fit nice and tight. Could likely be reversed back to an autoloader if the screw would come out. Certainly not the fanciest rifle, but I am not going to be on one of those hunting shows with it. :p

I have an older 527. Unless the cant of the stock has changed it is designed for irons and low, the stock is slight but cut for a full-size individual. Decreasing LOP is one thing but women in general require a higher cheek piece. Nothing that can’t be resolved but she may find the pistol grip placement is off when the LOP is decreased

For a normal sized or slightly long LOP the 527 is a great rifle for use with iron sights. I have a skinner peep on mine and would not scope it if you paid me

Granted the 527 has a few quirks.... the worst to me is a rear sight that can disappear into the woods on your first shot because someone in QA skipped that step. Check with tenda, they say ship it back for warranty... not interested in that just want another sight. Well it's scoped anyway.

Ideally, she can shoulder each one, work the action and mag, and decide after that. All i can say is i was quite disappointed when i looked at the ranch after trying the 527. The price on the ranch has crept up, negating some of its biggest advantage. Btw, one 5 round mag is probably all you need on a deer hunt.

Unfortunately an sks is an 8.5 lb gun that's pretty long to boot, not the best choice for smaller folk when shooting off hand. The 527 it's closer too 6lbs and shorter before a scope.
Now if it's all i had, i wouldn't hesitate to use one.

I've only dropped on mag on a hunt once, but was able to back track and find it.... I'd be happy if the CZ had an internal magazine and only held 4 rounds.... :)

Mags are nice for road hunters and It's nice to be able to run different capacity magazines but clearly not "necessary".... thanks goodness necessity is not the basis of ownership..... yet.

I'm with Conor, iron sights ( peep on the back replacing the barrel mounted rear sight) would be my choice with the CZ.
