Does anyone make magazine extensions to improve grip?

I have some of the checkmate industries 5 round mags and they are even a little shorter than norinco 5 round mags.

They are good quality mags, but VERY hard to insert and remove. What would be fantastic is a solid plastic extension that replaces the floorplate, to increase the length to be the same as a 10 round mag.

Does suck an animal exist?

I know Magwedge makes a coupler, but I am not talking about those. I'm just talking about adding something to improve length for grip purposes.

I can't be the only person who would buy them. I'd be good for 4+ of these products if they existed.

Nevermind - I just found GS Designs. They make extensions that turn an e-lander 10 round mag into the length of a full 20 round mag. That should make a 5 round mag about the length of a 10 or 15 round mag - short enough for bench shooting, but long enough to grasp it well.

Did you/are you gonna get some? If so, when you do, can you post the 'results'? ;)

I just ordered 4. Whenever they get here, I can post pics of them next to real USGI mags attached to E-lander mags, Checkmate 5 rounders, and chinese 5 rounders - those are the short mags I have here to try them on.

Looking forward your news. Most Norincos have that useless short mag. If the "attacher" works, that is more capacity in the gun box.

ok, I got some in yesterday and played around with them today.

I wanted these for the handful of CheckMate Industries 5-rounfers I have, which are shorter than Norinco 5-round mags and literally impossible (or nearly so) to remove from an M14 once inserted. Terrible design.

The GS extensions were made specifically for E-lander AIA 10 round mags to give them the same length as USGI mags.

So first some pics...

In clockwise order starting in the upper left:

Checkmate industries (CMI) 5 rd mag
Norinco 5.5 rd mag
GS designs extension
E-lander AIA mag

Here we see a CMI mag inserted with the GS extender installed. It's about the length of a 15 round mag, if such an animal existed. Half way between a 10 round mag and a 20 round GI mag.

This is what the GS was designed for, to make the E-lander mag the same size as a GI mag, presumably so it will work in tac vests, pouches, etc. Personally I like the E-lander mags short, there is enough sticking out to grab well enough already, so I didn't install one.

And here is a GS extender on a CMI 5 rounder next to an e-lander.

Were I to offer a suggestion to GS Designs, it would be to offer other heights. I'd have liked an extension that made a CMI 5 rounder the same length as an AIA mag.

It's important to note, the GS mag did NOT fit the norinco 5 round mag. The front lip on the mag is not folded tight enough to the mag body to work with the GS extender without some modification.

Fwiw, I used a small piece of grip tape on either side of the Norc 5 round mag. Works just fine.

I prefer the look of the 20/5 mag, but at the same time it irritates me, in the same way that fake hood scoops on a car irritate me.

Yeah, I can get Norinco 5 rd mags in/out with a little effort, but the CMI mags... forget it. They are actually recessed inside the gun - literally nothing sticks out. You need pre-teen little fingers to get that sucker outa there without an extension.

That's why my a-gunner is my 10 year old

Yeah, I took another look and see what you mean. That would drive me batty!
