does anyone make (sell) a NON-functional but otherwise real AK-47?

as per title - would be nice to find & buy an AK47, with proper AK47 markings (so not a CZ or something else), but one that's been made NON-functional (I dunno, welded shut firing pin, welded shut barrel, etc). and 100% legal, of course.

is this sort of thing around here in Canada?

There were some AK74's that came into Canada many years ago. They were non-functioning. They were from the factory. Not sure (very much doubt) that they could come in again.

Search google for real sword type 56, it's an airsoft gun but rumour said that it was made the same factory as Norinco type 56 or just simply the part from type 56 since they have to redo the whole gearbox design to fit in there. There is no point to design a new gearbox when the current is already tough, again rumour said that it was using parts from type 56 and design a new gearbox fit in there.

You can certainly find such Prohibited fire-arms that have been de-activeated, or DeWaT designation (de-activated war trophy). Either people owned them but had no interest in firing them, and jumping through licensing hoops in order to do so, so they got welded up. Or grandpa's gun from the war, now that he's gone we might sell it, but it's easier to deal with if it's de-activated. In many cases a gun becomes more valuable as a dewat, since it no longer requires any licence, let alone a grandfathered Prohib. class PAL. Lotta people would like an iconic fire-arm to display.

Collector's Source [dotcom] does have one listed right now. They are not known for the best prices, so I was rather surprised they were not asking more.

If you do get a dewat AK, make sure it comes with a certificate from the RCMP designating it as such, and make a million copies of the certificate so you'll never be more than 457mm away from it no matter where you go.

Several rifles have been designated as Prohibited variants of the Kalashnikov, even though they're clearly not, based on looks alone. Also make sure you don't run afoul of the Law regarding Replica Firearms; the Criminal Code proscribes ‘any device that is designed or intended to exactly resemble, or to resemble with near precision, a firearm.’ Many types of AirSoft guns have been classed ‘un-controlled fire-arms,’ and there are definitely such guns that you can buy to satisfy your desires, but it's a pretty thin line between that and a Prohibited Replica. Know that you will always be scrutinized as long as you desire to own something that looks like that.

wow - thank you for the details and notes on what to be cognizant of. i'd likely keep it in my safe along with my other NR rifles / shotguns, so it's not like i'd be running through playgrounds with it yelling "pew pew!" i may also get a restricted / non-R live version like a CZ as a safe 'pal' (haha! i made a pun!) that i also get to actually SHOOT.

more reading is definitely needed, and now i know what dewat means AND that i should search for dewat stuff.

:)

Buy the cz or vz you won't look back. And later when you think " hey that 4x4 guy was right! I'm gonna buy that dude a beer " you can buy me a case

IMHO lol

ok, so as the live version, which is the most correct CZ / VZ that i should look at? and any particular sponsor dealers to hit up for it? i'm guessing i'd want it chambered in SKS or 223 for cheap plentiful ammo...

i was too lazy to write 7.62x39 or whatever the cheap milsurp ammo is. hey, i'm mainly a handgun guy, rifles are new to me.

PM me. I know this guy called yuri, he will ship in some select fire aks.

^
Not true, that was a joke. Please dont pm me, because the only yuri I know is a total sissy and can't smuggle a bottle of vodka out of his own house.
