I'd appreciate any thoughts on this. I'm an experienced BP shooter with muzzleloaders and percussion revolvers, but not BP cartridge and have never reloaded (BP or smokeless) so this is a new game for me. I've read a lot and have a beautiful condition Snider-Enfield II** which I'm itching to shoot, so am ready to go!

I have a box of Bertram .577 brass and my usual musket Goex 2F, but need primers and ball. What are the best primers for the Bertram case? I'm looking at .58 minie and .590 or .585 roundball (or .600, if it will take it). I'm thinking of trying 60 gr 2F to begin with, rising to 70. What is the best material for filler - unlubed muzzleloader shotgun wads?

For my first loads with these shells, will I need to crimp using a die? Or can I just press the ball into the case and make sure there is no air space? The shells as they are (unfired) fit my chamber comfortably.

I'm about to order a Lee .577 die set and a Lee classic cast press. Is there anything else I should get?

All advice much appreciated.
