if so how high is the rib and what are the benefits.....does it help in avoiding neck cramps as the head is more upright....would this be a good set up for sporting clays

I use a Browning Citori Trap which has a rib called a "high rib" and an adj. comb. It is not the highest I've seen but it is high. Many people use an unsingle and they have high ribs. I am not sure about sporting clays but I sure like the high rib in trap. Most sporting guns have a low rib from what I have seen, not sure why ??

I use a Kreighoff K-80 Combo with Unsingle barrel(very high adjustable rib), it has 3 advantages,a) easier to keep face on stock, b)straight line recoil, c) because there is no barrel in the way you can pick up targets much faster! High rib hasn't caught on in Sporting clays as it really is only an advantage in rising going away birds!

I've owned high rib trap guns but don't like them for sporting. Most trap guns are set up to shoot a high POI so the bird can be floated over the barrels which is great for rising targets but not so good for falling targets.

I shoot a high rib on my 391 but it is a custom from Moneymaker with adjustable POIs so it doesnt always give you a "high" pattern. I like it because I see the clay better and my head is more upright.

Never had a problem with regular bead shotguns and neck cramps/ Either you are too tense or you need to get a proper stance/gun mount when shooting and even a proper gun fitting done. Shoulder cramps from taking the recoil yes.
