Does barrel swapping to a lower length on an OIC-prohibited rifle require registration?

So were not allowed to take them out of the safe?
It’s not like you can legally bring it anywhere to use, so what difference do it matter what barrel you put in there in the privacy of your own home

Chances are it wouldn't matter. Better chance to get struck by lightning than actually caught for this sort of thing. But OPs question wasn't about his chances of getting caught.

Only restricted affected by the OIC, such as AR style restricted rifle were nullified.
What I mean and assumed what 45C meant as well. As we are talking about OIC prohibs.

I recently moved and my OIC prohibs were not on the ATT. When enquired, all I got was an email with screen shot of the amnesty saying you can move with OIC prohibs.

Seems like the real question is "can an OiC prohib ALSO be an unregistered restricted firearm?"

I've always assumed that firearms classes are exclusive - that is a gun can only be one class of firearm. But I'm certainly not about to bet the farm on that actually being the case.

For those of you with 12.x Prohib rifles, do you need to inform the CFP if you change the barrel length?

I figured as much, but is there a specific law that says you must report a change in barrel length? I would assume yes but I'm not certain.
I remember reading once years ago that changes to a gun be it class or physical description is on the cert holder to report within 30 days of said change.
New cert. # created

Prohibited by decree, plus unregistered restricted? There is protection under the amnesty for the former, none whatsoever for the latter.
Can a gun get more prohibited?

There is NOTHING that says your prohibs can't be taken out of the safe. Legally you are not supposed to take them out of your dwelling / home. It is questionable if you live rural in an area where firearm discharge is allowed, for you to stand on your porch and shoot your prohibs. 🤷‍♂️

If it offends the criminal code, then it would be an additional offence. Say for example you took an OIC prohibited firearm and converted it to full auto, you couldn't use as a defence, the fact is was already prohibited. So I think the question you have to ask, is whether or not it breaks the law, or would have broken the law to do the change, disregarding that it is already prohibited.
How can a gun become more prohibited? There isn't a "double secret" prohibition. 🤷‍♂️

No, why would you? The only time you legally need to inform CFP of an alteration is if it changes the class of the firearm. As 12.x guns are all prohibited, they can't become more prohibited.

pretty sure I’m gonna send it on the short barrels.

Legal limbo for my guns

I see it as they are only class 3 (12.x) prohibited, not both class 1&3. Class 1 rules no longer apply. Until somebody convinces me otherwise.
Ownership of OIC prohibited guns without a registration certificate are covered under an ammesty that legally protects you.

If you change the existing OIC prohibited guns barrel length you won't be protected under the Amnesty and will be in possession of an unregistered restricted firearm.

??? There are 12(X) classes 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. Auto, converted auto, etc.
What is Class 1?
