Does boolit lube fling off?

When a lubed boolit is fired from a rifle, does the lube all burn off? If not, does it fling out of the grooves once it leaves the barrel?

I would think that if it flung off unevenly that it might cause a wobble.

I’ve recovered some with lube still in the grooves also some with no lube left

If you have a perfectly formed 'lube star' at the end of the barrel, then the lube has done it's job

I have seen plenty of bullets with the lube still in the grooves.

I make my own soft lube, since I figure a hard lube can't have worked to it's full potential when the bulk of it is still with the bullet behind the target.

That is not a factor - its effect is lost in the noise of other factors like wind, humidity, powder variations, etc. You'd be surprised how stable a brick can be if spun quickly enough.

It would depend on what kind of lube you used.

As long as my barrel is not leading and bullets are on target I believe that is what counts.

when scoring ipsc targets I've witnessed plenty of lube on the targets mostly on the stages with close up targets

On indoor range with concrete floor we used to find a buildup of slivers of wax lube on the floor and walls about 5-20 feet in front of the firing line. We were shooting bullseye .32 and .38 calibre wadcutters with one or even two lube grooves. The wax spinning off the grooves didn't appear to have much effect on accuracy but made the floor and walls look messy.
