Ended up with a Relum Telly -at least I think it is- at the back of the gun cabinet. I can honestly say I don't remember who gave it to me...pretty sad what old age does to you. I do seem to remember it was a relative or friend who inherited it, had young kids and was scared of the proverbial "losing an eye" scenario.

Anyway, the airgun is in great overall shape, seems to have good compression, still unfired by me. Only problem is that it only has open sights and no provision (base or slots) for a scope.

My question is simple, since the value and collectibility of the airgun is close to nothing, can I get away with JB welding a scope base on the top of the receiver? Will it hold up to the spring pounding? I plan on slightly scarring the contact area of both the receiver and the base before installation.

The other option is to DandT the receiver, I do have a set of taps but I'm afraid that drilling through it would destroy it's operation. Thanks in advance.

Not having a Relum in front of me I would hazard a guess that you probably could mount a scope rail by drilling and tapping.
The most difficult part would be honing or how ever you chose to finish the screw ends that penetrated the receiver.
My Diana 280 has a factory mounted scope rail and it doesn't look like the screws are in the compression cylinder area but
you would want the screws flush and smooth because the end of the piston will be passing by and so you could disassemble the rifle.
You would also want to loctite the hell out of the screws.
I don't think any glue would hold your scope on a springer even the telly

I thought of having a dovetail milled on mine but never looked into it too seriously just yet.Made by FEG in Hungary running just under 600fps in .177 I have my childhood gun and a minty one picked up at a gunshow.Harold
