Does Dominion Arms = Norinco?

I'm wanting to know for sure weather or not there is any discernible difference between a Norinco T97 and your Dominion Arms T97NRR. I don't want to find out the hard way that the T97 FTU won't fit yours. Thanks.

Except canadaammo has stated on the D.A Type 97 there will be changes from the current type 97NSR. However T97.ca has stated when the D.A type 97 is released they will either sell a separate FTU or instructions on modifications to the current FTU if any are needed.

Apparently im not the only one that has been trying to get an answer to this question. Be nice if can am would give an answer instead of ignoring the forum question, and answering emails. Eta on the NRR is looking like fall 2014

judging from what i've read about as being problems with the t-97NSR, all the changes that will be coming on the NRR will probably be in the rear end of the lower receiver. so i doubt any of the changes will affect the mods required to fit the FTU.

I gave up the guessing game long ago, I pre-ordered a year ago but im sure my other pre-order is going to come in way before the T97.

As per buying parts for the T97 don't bother there no guarantee they will fit.

Well the FTU doesn't interact with the rear end of the lower receiver, so not sure why you'd think it makes a difference.

Canam might as well just tell us they'll wait till the Type 97-1 is approved for export and sell us that instead.

Don't expect major changes with the DA version, you might see a thread barrel and extra piece of rail or something that doesn't involve a design change or re-tooling. Think Milabu Stacey with a new hat, because with a locked in price tag that is couple hundred dollars lower than T97NSR adding more to cost to the production is just not going to happen, unless Canada Ammo is really a Communist party front to launder money in Canada.

Having said that, if you don't see me post on CGN again, you will know why.

I certainly hope that when their rifle arrives that it is compatible with the FTU , LHG etc, otherwise i think the might be stuck with lots of inventory. Would sure be nice to know when or if this is ever coming and what exact alterations have been made. Have to wait till this unicorn shows up being ridden by a leprechaun on the rainbow leading to the pot of gold.

Agreed. I can't see how all these changes could be substantial and still yield a better price point. It takes money to change designs / re-tool.

Mind you we don't know what deal / agreement has been made between Can Am and the suppliers either.

Even if they only thread the barrel and add a bayonet mount it'd still be well worth it.
