I doubt it. There are Garands out there for under 600, quite a few actually.

Cost you more tha $600 in trying to build a Garand from parts. Good barrels are hard to find.

It's possible to do, BUT!! it'll take alot of time to find the parts you need, for the price you want... Just keep your eyes open at the local gun show, and get there early, or every so often a good deal shows up on CGN's. I saw a real nice PB Garand go not long ago for $400 on the EE.
