Need some input:

I am thinking of purchasing some Norinco 7.62X51 M80 Ball Cartridge, 145 Grain FMJ, steel-cased, NON-CORROSIVE (manufactured in 92-93).

Do these bullets have a steel core? It is easy to check this with a magnet (though I don't have any at hand that I can check). I need to resolve this, as our range does not allow steel core bullets.

Thanks in advance.

The Norinco ammo I've always used was NOT steel core, but it WAS steel jacket.

Rather than copper over lead it was soft steel over lead, then copper washed.

Kind of a tough call as to the range use though....I mean, it will NOT punch through plates like the steel core stuff does, but a magnet WILL stick to it.

You may have to take one apart and cut the bullet open to show anyone who may give you grief.
