Does parallax matter at low magnification and short range?

I've been thinking of a new scope for a .22 that's only had the open sights. Ideally i would like something low magnification, i have a few scopes sitting idle in 1-4x to 2-6x range, but they are rifle scopes, not made specifically for rimfires.

It's always said that you shouldn't put a rifle scope, with a longer range zero for parallax on a rimfire that you will be shooting at shorter ranges because you can have issues with the parallax of the scope.

Does it make as much difference at the lower 1-4x magnification range? Will be be so negligible to be able to ignore it, or should i really try to stick with a rimfire specific scope?

If you know how, most non-adjustable scopes can be adjusted for parallax. Having said that, you'd probably get away without doing it on a low power scope like you're talking about anyway. Many low power variables are set to be parallax free for shorter than "normal" ranges because people use them on their brush guns, DGRs, Slug guns and muzzle-loaders.

Most non adjustable parra lax scopes are set too 100 yards, for your 22 it is not important just make your eye square in relation to scope and parallax will be negligible

As above, most centerfire scopes have their parallax set nominally for 100 y, and most rimfire scopes are set for 50 y. I say nominal because any given scope can display a substantial variation from the manufacturers spec. If you've got a few scopes in stock, put them to the test...
