Does Springfield Armory Make A Non-Restricted M1A Shorty?

springfield used to make the m1a in flavors to suit just about everybody- shorts, regulars, folding stocks, special stocks, national match, white feather, heavy barrels, etc- the one you're referring to used to be called a the m1a1 or something like that- they called it the "bush" rifle- it had a 18 inch barrel, ( probably overall length) and a folding bm59 type stock, along with a special open style twig catcher flash hider- like the early m16s- however , the fool thing weighs almost as much as the fibreglassed regular rifle- the barrel is PROBABLy at least an inch too short for canada b/c springfield measures the barrel in overall length including the flashider

knowing springfield, they make a barrel that's common to all models, be it 22 inch or 18, so you'd have to find out if the shorty model ( any shorty) model is non- restricted in canada- i would say it probably is, as can-am is supplying us with 18 inch shorties and there's no "legal" problems with those- it's probably the special flash hider AND the folding stock that makes the bush illegal- too small a package - i've been wondering about the 305 shorty and the folding stock myself- i've got it in a 22 inch right now, but would the folder make it restricted?

should be non restricted even with a folding stock.

as long the OAL is + 26"

I love watching people try to make sense of Canada's senseless gun laws. Gives one a real chuckle.
