Not sure if this has even been asked before or this could maybe just be a stupid question but does anyone know if the ThermaCELL repellent give off an odor that animals with a great sense of smell such as deer, coyotes, and etc could possibly not like or would stay away from ?
I do use the unit during turkey season but never have used it on my outings for coyotes as I have had a thought of them smelling the thremacell and then not coming in due to it.
Im going to try my first bow hunt for deer and figure it would be handy to bring out with me if them mosquito's are still buzzing around but would like to see what your guys thoughts would be on this before I brought it with me.
Thanks

i have had it out well turkey hunting and have had both deer and yotes walk by at less then 20 yards and thy never new i was there well the yote got a hell of a bang out of it but he still never new the thremacell was there DUTCH

on a side note if you get the unit down wind of you in a blind you will feel it in your throat but not smell it .do not us them in blinds DUTCH

Thanks Dutch
Im guessing you have tried it in a blind before
This is where I was thinking on using it but from your experience it sounds like its better if used when not in a in-closed area

Dutch is absolutely right about feeling it...don't inhale deeply. Mever had a problem even using for bear as they will smell you much more than the repellent materials.

It gives off a slight odour, not unpleasant but like others have said deer will pick up your scent just as well even with those fancy 500.00 suits and sprays. Just hunt the wind.

It does give off a bit of a odour......I am going to be using mine for deer archery for the first time tonight. I have used them during goose season in pop up blind.....all i know is that they work great!!!
