Blued 1950's sks, Everything but the mag matches, No butchered mag. Blueing missing. Internals mint. So, Should this become bubba's girl? Or should I fix the blueing and pick up another for bubba?

imo, even fixed up, your 1950 refurb sks will never be of interest to a collector in canada. they are very common . so go at it.

Personally I would leave anything original pick up an already bubba'd sks on the EE, that being said most sks stuff isn't permanent and can be switched back to original easy enough, and it's not a particularly nice pristine sks, so you're not going to lose much for value.

Can't see if it was refurb and stored in a salt mine or is it a (non refurb but issued) that somehow missed the refurb factory!! Did you get a deal on it due to the condition? Does it have all the original cartouches! Looks like it came directly from the fields in Vietnam!

Take a steel wire brush and methyl hydrate to the black stuff. If it comes off revealing grey underneath, then it's a recent Russian refurb. That diamond on the right side of the receiver suggests it. Made in Russia on the barrel under the gas tube proves it.
I scrubbed mine all the way to the grey then reblued it myself.
Looks way better than that barbecue paint crap.

I can see the refurb mark now above the 1950, wow, that is the worst looking SKS I have ever seen, must have been in a damp storage! If the internals are good, then it is perfect for bubba's B--ch!

looks like a good candidate to me , dont think your gonna hurt any purist feeling on that one one ..
Any idea what your gonna try?
I like to have one of those sabretooth stocks but they're kinda pricey

I got an tan archangel stock on the way. Thinking of possibly D+T it and adding a side mount. Not sure what I wanna do for the finnish yet. Im not a fan of this one tho so I may find a used ATI stock and toss it in as a beater.

Im not a fan of the looks honestly, I think they need to remove the gap off the back receiver.

What was the colour of the Nagant you did - blue if I recall? That might work. Metal looks like it needs a bit of work.

haha no blue sks for me, the blue mosin was due to a failed dye paint. It was suppose to be and extremely light tint but nope, solid blue.

The finish is blued so fixing it is easy I have done it lots. I Just don't know if I wana keep it blued for the project I have in mind

I ended up stripping out all the internals and put them in to my old battleworn sks project along with taking of the magazine and, sling, cleaning kit and oiler for it. So now my favorite shooter has new parts.
