hey, eveyone knows you can shoot 22 shorts out of a 22lr bolt action (i do it all the time in mine :) ) but is there a gun out there that can shoot all the types of 22's? magnum, lr, l and s? i would love a leaver action and would like to be able to shoot magnums when i would like some extra power... is there a rifle that can shoot all the 22 styles?

Magnums have a larger case diameter. LR's in a mag chamber will bulge and may split. This is the reason revolvers such as Ruger's Single-Six have two cylinders, one for magnums and one for LR.

Long Rifle chamber will safely use Longs and Shorts.

Quick answer~no. On the plus side, it sounds like you need 2 rifles. :) I dust-off my .22mag when I'm planning on hunting, the .22lr, when pop cans are the quarry.

Also, Repeaters & semi's chamber for LR "might" work with shorts, but not always - they tend to have feeding issues in my experience. They will fire fine, it's the loading process that fails.

thanks guys... a little bummed out but ill get over it lol... maybe ill buy a 22lr lever or maybe a pump and be done with it... maybe buy a 17hmr for when i need more power lol...

well there is the Rossi Circuit Judge in .22 with the .22 mag swap so it dose exist but is not a leaver and is restricted in canada i dont know why because it has a 18.5 barrle not that that would matter with rimfire and a 6 shot mag. But i have been reading that Rossi is not stoping there and remade the Judge in a single action style with a leaver to cycle it now that might be what your looking for but i think there going to be around $700 or more.

Pretty much anything tube fed will do short, long and long rifle.
magazine fed is harder to make work.

Ever notice that a .22 long rifle case is the same diameter of the bullet, because the bullet has a little narrow heel on it where it fits int he case?

Pretty much (and not exactly) every other kind of casing has a bullet that the entire diameter fits inside the case, not just the heel.

The .22 LR casing is smaller around than the .22 mag casing by about the thickness of the casing and doesn't hold up well stretching like that.

its not recommended to shoot shorts in LR gun as it might gum up the chamber because the brass is not fitting all the way into the chamber. there is a gap a bullet has to jump before it hits the barrel. shoot shorts a few times in LR chamber should be fine but you should clean the chamber thoroughly
