I have been thinking about wildcat calibers and really fast movers.
Is there such a thing as a 25-300win or a 25-300wsm? If there isn't is there a safety or accuracy reason?
Thanks,
Familyman

it sure does exist. you can launch a 115gr bullet going 3600fps or an 85gr bullet going 4000fps. you can kiss that barrel goodbye after a good weekend of gopher shooting:)

Safety like how? 25-300wsm would be similiar to a 25-284 in performance, most likely...And that is a very popular round...

I would have to think that you aren't the first person to think of either, and chances are good that you can buy a reamer already spec'ed out...

"...a 25-300wsm?..." The WSM's are relatively new. I'd bet there are lots of wildcatters playing with it.
"...it sure does exist..." Got any links?

I believe the fellow that owns Wildcat Bullets in Wetaskiwin (whose name escapes me at the moment) built one. Barrel didn't last too long though.

You won't be sorry. Ask Why Not

Pretty sure that a 25-300wsm variant was written about by Lee Roots in rifle shooter and it was called the 25 pronghorn, if memory serves me correctly, but i read that like a year ago so i could be wrong.

With the costs involved, it might be cheaper to invest in a machinists night class at the community college, and an old lathe and drill press. Sometimes you see the old lathes go for scrap metal prices at shops that want to upgrade to computerized gear, and can amortize the gear anyway.

Wildcatting gets addictive I hear. Barrel blanks are affordable, and milsurp barrels can sometimes be had very cheap.
