So, I have a CZ452 Varmint in .17 HMR with a brand new scope...unfired (late-fall purchase) and just bought a .22 last night. I'd say I have a gun "problem"....except that I feel pretty darned good about it! :) The moral of the story is, this site is a happy distraction for me at a time when a little "pick-me-up" is very welcome.

Thanks guys, I hope you all have an excellent, safe, and happy Christmas with your families.

All the best,
Rob

Enjoy your guns. I've got a CZ 452 American in .22lr and I love it. If I had the cash right now I'd be shopping for a 452 Lux in .22lr as well. Down the road I may have to think about getting another CZ chambered in .17HMR as well. Merry Christmas.

I got the rimfire bug this year and to cure it I bought a Remmy 597 (not tact), Mossberg tact 22, Savage 17hmr, and finished up my therapy with a ruger MKIII target.

Hoping for a relapse next year!

Soon as you fire that new 17hmr.... you'll be changing your online name.
:)

Don't doubt that. ;) I love .17 HMR, shot one all last summer. I really liked it..until I saw a 452 Varmint. :) The upgrade (and new scope/rings) ended-up costing a fair bit, but damn...it'll be nice to be in the field with a gun I'm proud to own. It's been out of it's case a dozen times...just to be in my loving arms. (and I'm not joking) The moment the mercury climbs above about 5C, it'll be out for a good sighting-in. There are groundhogs that are anxious to meet this rig...in the spring that is.

In the meantime, and I can shoot them local, my .22s. I love bolt-action .22s, probably always will.

Cheers,
Rob

I don't think you have a problem, I own 8 22s 9 if you count one that takes diferent ammo as well as a 17 and 22 mag. You have to try the 17 on some gophers and you might change your name.
Have a merry Christmas

Not being a rimfire guy....I managed to buy 5 this year!
PPS50, .22lr/.22mag revolver, Henry Octagon lever, Ruger 10/22 VLEH, Ruger MK3.... all for my son to use.
I guess he secretly hooked me.;)

I've only run about 20 rounds through my HMR rig, but I noticed even with earplugs the solid *WHAP* sound when the bullet hit the target backstop. It just has that extra little bit of jam that the .22LR doesn't. The problem, of course, is that .22 rounds are under 4 cents a piece, and the Winchester Supreme 17's I was shooting were about 9 times that price retail. Even the best-case mail order prices put it at 5+ times the cost of bulk .22.

You say it like it's a BAD thing?!?!?!!?:p

Haha. Do you know what makes you 'nutz'? When your girlfriend gets mad when you can't take her to the range this weekend. The weekend that happened, I had brought her out the first time the week before. Too bad we can't get all of the antis out to the range. The smart ones would love it, and the other 98% would shoot themselves in the face. Gotta love natural selection.
