I've always been told it was illegal to use dogs to assist with big game hunting in Saskatchewan.

I just read thru the Sask Hunter's guide, and there is no mention of the use of dogs for big game hunting.
I would like to use a dog, not to chase deer, but as propultion on a set of x-country skis, similar to an ultralight dog sled. The puppy would also come in handy to help retrieve downed game.

What are the legalities involved?

Thanks

Not sure about Sask... would be interested to know, as I find it odd how the regs change between provinces.

In Alberta the regs state that you are not allowed to 'be accompanied by a dog while hunting big game'.

I've often wondered if this would get a fella in hot water:

Grouse hunting with shotgun and dog, out pops a huge buck. Drop a slug in the gun, drop deer.

I'd imagine a CO passing by might have a problem with it... technically speaking.
