That being said you cannot get a full semi-auto HK416 in Canada because HK in Germany cannot legally sell to civilians.. You can get a HK416 upper for about $8000 to $10000 Canadian dollars if you are lucky...
Just get the MR223 which is the exact same thing, only 2 barrel lengths available right now through Tactical Imports 14.5 or 16.5...
Go to HKpro and read up there...

Wow $8000-10000 for 416 upper ? What barrel size you are talking about ?
I thought they are around $4000-5000 ? (Still sky high price and unbelievable for many people )

Btw I have a MR223 with 16.5" heavy barrel
The problem is the super heavy match barrel made the gun front heavy.
Exactly same problem as SL8.
I am thinking to trim down the barrel to 416 profile spec.
That may cost way less than get a 416 barrel.
Unless you prefer the 10.5" which we can't legally cut down the 16.5" factory barrel to 10.5"

Prices have skyrocketed in the US so getting them bought their and getting them here is far more expensive now....probably wait another 6 months to a year or so and things might come down.....
Hk parts had a bunch in and sold within a day for $6000 US...

So, does that mean that if they had the proper barrel length (i.e. >18.5" or whatever the cutoff is, I forget exactly) that they would be non-restricted, since they must obviously not be an "AR" or variant if the parts are not interchangeable?
That would be the logical conclusion the RCMP would come to, no?

No. The 416 and MRs are still AR variant by "RCMP" standard
The worst thing is even the ".22" version of the 416s which OEM by airsoft company are still classify as AR variant
so they are restricted regardless the barrel length
