Has anyone had the barrel off a Norinco 1887? I have one (Dominion Arms) and I am wondering about the possibility of fitting it with a rifled slug barrel. Curious whether this is even possible, and if so what the easiest route would be.

I was wanting to do the same thing.....

Where are you going to find a rifled shotgun barrel or blank? Also, you do realize that relegated the shotgun to slugs only, correct? It will forever be ruined as a “shotgun”.

If you can find the parts, it wouldn’t be hard, but it would cost a lot of money, and it’s a fair bit of risk. Expect to pay upwards of $1000 if you can’t do the work yourself.

I cast and shoot a lot of LEE slugs, so having a dedicated slug gun in my favourite action would be pretty fun. The Norinco '87 is based on the original 12 gauge frame which used 2 1/2" shells, so it cycles slugs much better than 2 3/4" shotshells anyway. I don't know the source of such a barrel, which is why I posted the thread here. A lot of risk? Not sure what you mean by that...

Wow, sounds like the same reason I want to convert mine! As far as Ruining the value of the gun, it’s a $400.00 dollar shotgun, when they were new, so not a collectors piece .
You might be able to have it threaded for a rifled choke setup...I wouldn’t..never seen any advantage to the rifle choke.
It’s one of those projects that I will get around to...one of these days, started working on an old antique pistol..so the lever shotgun mod, will be on the back burner for awhile.
