Hopefully this is the right spot to post this. My question is what are you guys who bought these barrels from canada ammo using for a rear sight? The front sight is ridiculously huge, has any one succesfully removed them and put some thing else on it? I bougth the 12.5" and the 18" one's but didnt realize we could do stair climbing exersice with the front sight when I bought them
 
One problem is that the shorter the barrel, the higher the front sight needs to be. Some of the 8 1/2 inch guns with just the bead shoot high measured in feet at 50yds. Shoot it and see where POI is before you do anything
 
I had one of the 18.5s and removed the ridiculous front sight and installed a bead sight. It isn't plug and play and required me to tap and thread the new bead and refinish the barrel. You need to heat the front sight to remove it (welded in place, or at least mine was)
 
So you want esthetics or functionality? The answer has been given already; the tall front blade is necessary to aim at the point of impact. A low bead would hit high.
