Dominion Arms Backpacker 14" barrel

Hey everyone,

I am interested in purchasing a Dominion Arms backpacker 14" barrel in .410 and 12 gauge and was curious if anyone has used a chronograph to see what the muzzle velocity is when using slugs with short barrels. I thought about putting this thread in Sporting Shotguns but since I am planning on painting it green I figured I would put it here.

from what i have read you will lose about seven f.p.s. for every inch of barrel loss for slugs and five f.p.s. for shot. this holds true till you get down to the twelve inch barrel lengths. below twelve there are some drops of 250 f.p.s.for the extreme short barrels.if the 24 inch barrel was 1300 f.p.s. your 14 inch barrel would be70 f.p.s. slower at 1230 give or take . nothing to be concerned about in my opinion.

i did a search on the internet and if you search the kommando blog shotgun barrel length vs. velocity they have charts all the way from 36 inch barrels down to 6.5 using slugs buckshot and bird-shot, here is the url link .https://www.kommandoblog.com/2017/05/16/shotgun-barrel-length-velocity/
