I recently purchased a 12g Dominion Arms Backpacker 2 shotgun. The hammer is extremely hard to #### which isn't a concern for me as I'm able to #### it with my strong hands. My concern is that when I want to decock the hammer, i.e. release it to its resting position, it is very hard to control the hammer as it has so much force behind it. I run the risk of inadvertently striking the firing pin and discharging the firearm. I am able to break open the barrel so that the round may be removed before I decock the hammer but I do consider the current functioning of the shotgun to be a safety hazard.
Can anyone advise how to adjust the hammer mechanism so that it may be decocked more easily and therefore more safely?
