Finally building the old Model 653 carbine I've been wanting to build for a long time.

My choice of barrels up in this country are slim though.

It must be a light weight/pencil barrel of 14.5" length.

My options are Daniel Defense or Dominion Arms right now....

The Daniel Defense are marked as having an "A4" extension, I have a Colt A2 upper for the build. So I assume this puts the Daniel Defense barrel out?

Does that just mean that I'll have to get the Colt upper area under the feed ramps in the barrel extension recessed to match the deeper grooves in the Daniel Defense "A4" barrel extension?

Worst case I have to go with Dominion Arms barrel, has anyone put one on a North American upper? How do they shoot/perform accuracy wise?

Any advice on this would be appreciated.

If your extension has feed ramps, your receiver doesn't need them, if your receiver has feed ramps your extension must have them. I've run a Norc upper on a US lower (early Norc upper, Armalite lower) it worked flawlessly, nice tight fit with no wobble.

You could just mail order whatever barrel you want as long as it's available from a Canadian retailer.

I installed a barrel with M4 feed ramps into a receiver that didn't have them. I was having the odd round hit the front and jam so I just took a jewelers round file and added the feed ramps to the receiver, flawless feeding after that.
Try Tier One Armoury in Edmonton, they carry DD barrels and can order you almost anything you ask for and will ship to you.

Good luck.
