Hey guys,

I just purchased a Cougar off the EE. I love it to death. Always wanted a Remington 1100 or the like. This fits the bill perfectly.

I dissasembled the shotgun yesterday and upon putting it back together, something fell out that I never dissasembled. I just finished putting the bolt back in. I racked it a few times and then something long and metallic came clanking out. It seems it comes with a groove in the receiver. It seems to mate beside the trigger group. Here it is. I can't seem to get it back in properly, but I really didn't notice it before.

Here are the pictures.

Can anyone help?

Thanks!

It looks from the pic that it's the cartridge interrupter, it fits into a groove on the inside of the receiver, it has to be installed with the bolt assembly in the rearward position, you'll see how everything lines up with the notches. When you get that in then you can put the trigger assembly in.

So your saying it can't be put in place unless the bolt assembly is in the Cougar? I can't even get it to fit without the assembly, let alone having a huge piece of metal in my way to install it. :D

It's a shell latch. Your gun is defective. You can try and get it fixed by the dealer or importer. You could also re-stake the shell latch, it's not hard. All you really need is a punch and hammer.

It's too bad because I just bought it off the EE last week. It was used, but no mention of this problem. :(

I'm looking into it now.

Thanks!

One of mine came out on my Griz as well. i put a bit of green Loctite under it pushed it back into the slot and gave it a smack with a punch and hammer.

mine being a pump i could do it with the bolt out no problems, i don't know if it's any different with a semi.

Will it still function properly if I don't tap it back into place? It has never come out unless the trigger group is removed. It is held in place by the front trigger group pin. It's definitely not going anywhere installed, but I was just wondering if I would experience in problems shooting in it's current condition?

Thanks!

the trigger group holds it into the slots, i went the extra steps so that it wont fall out every time i pull the trigger group out to clean.
