There is a bit of work to set up the Dominion Arms DA50 so it will correctly function on a AR15 lower. So I thought I would make a video showing the process of putting one of these beasts together. There's not too much info about them out there, so if you're curious, here's some 1080p gun lovin info for ya. btw, at the end I have a build cost list. Cheapest 50BMG by a long shot, but this thing is awesome!

loving this setup.my only thought is can the ar lower handle repeaded shots in this. I just wonder how long lower would last on there

An AR lower of decent quality will last up just fine. I shot a Ferret which is essentially the same as the DA50 for years with no troubles, apart from it being restricted and so few ranges are 50 friendly.

We are manufacturing a NON restricted lower that will fit the DA50m upper. The upper however requires permanent modification that we do so it will never fit an AR lower again.

Great video. I really enjoyed it.

The Norico/Dominion arms lower was what I would have gone with as well. Keep that 50BMG as cost effective as possible. No point doubling the cost of the rifle with an expensive lower. Also I would hang on to see what happens with C42 . If things work out you might already have a non restricted once the dust settles.

One thing to be careful of is the eye relief with your Burris scope. Make sure it's adequate. The recoil pad was cool. I was thinking a FAB defense GL-Shock. Not sure how that would work. Also you would definitely need the extra eye relief.

I know a couple of guys who were the first to put a DA50 together and go shoot it. Neat cost effective 50!

I've been following your guys' thread and can't wait to see the finished product. Once it's available to the mass market I will have to sell this one and get your NR version! Might as well buy the whole thing together as it has to be permanently modified anyways.

I may have to double check the eye relief an make sure I'm comfortable with it first. That would be a scope bit like none other. Black eye for a week! lol

I've seen scope bite from a 50BMG before. Never a good thing. The guy got hit near his right eyebrow. I was able to provide first aid bandages to him in the form of toilet paper. I felt bad for him, but still hard not to laugh with the TP hanging off his eyebrow. I offered to do an in the field stitch for him, even with lightening bolts but that offer was turned down for some reason. My suggestion of using crazy glue wasn't taken up either for some reason.

If I may suggest, just ensure your rings are high enough. One of the most common causes are rings that are just a bit too low. People end up doing the looking over your eye glasses thing which loses you an inch or so in eye relief as your eyebrow and forehead are now much more forward. Other causes are of course, not enough eye relief, bad shooting form, a stock that's too long or too short, etc etc.

Black eye minimally, I have seen guys needing a pile of sutures from the scope kiss of a 50.
Recoil on the shoulder is quite nominal with a 50, recoil to the skull however, not so much.:kickInTheNuts:

Until there is a way to put one together non restricted I have no interest in one. So few ranges these days that allow 50 makes it kinda useless for me. It is cool though and I'd like to have one if I could actually use it away from a range.

Crazy glue is one of the most important things in my first aid kits. I use it all the time in place of stitches.

No, on an AR platform the lower receiver is what is registered and restricted, the upper, like a previous poster said means nothing.

This ^^^

You can own a lower without even owning an upper and you will own a restricted firearm as far as the CFO is concerned. The lower doesn't even need to have a trigger group or buffer tube and it's still a restricted firearm as far as they're concerned.
