Dominion Arms M-14 SOCOM

The odds are you will get a good one. The problem is finding one, since I think it will be awhile before any new Norinco's are imported into Canada because they have used up all the receivers which were made along time ago. The new ones will cost more, however they will still be a good deal considering that in the States used Norinco's imported twenty years go for $800+.

I've had several M305/M14S rifles over the years - I love them. I just ordered the last SOCOM that SFRC had in stock, I hope it's a good one.

Me and a buddy ordered one each in November. His was flawless, mine had the same issues you read about "loose op rod guide, mags wouldnt release, bolt stop wouldn't hold". Easy fixes but I did have to get a bolt stop/release from armtak.to fix that.

I am 3 out 3 Socoms with no problems except one jammed flash hider but fix it in 20 minutes, mandatory work on them as soon you get them, put a quality op rod spring guide, the twins ( grandsons) put 500+ each rounds on their respective Socom without one issue, dependable rifle for the price... JP.

The 1st one I received looked really good but wouldn't cycle the action fully when firing it ...2nd one has all the issues , rear sights are junk, op rod loose , shims needed , barrel index off , even the gas lock front sight was milled on an angle . It shoots well but its a good thing I can fix all that's wrong with it myself .
This replacement Socom is my 6th or 7th m-305 and had the most issues of any I owned.
I still really like the platform but for someone not familiar with these rifles it can be frustrating.

Other than the shorter bbl and flash supressor, what makes the DA SOCOM different than a standard M305? Does DA do any QC?

DA does not do any quality control.
The SOCOM is unique because of the threaded reversible break and the navy style front sight.

I seem to recall a comment from CanAm when they first arrived that these were the best quality Chinese m-14's they had ever seen but it seems to be a standard mix ranging from Excellent to Crap.

So, the rifles come from China in the SOCOM configuration and DA only stamps their name on them? Just trying to figure out where Norinco ends and Dominion Arms begins.

I'm looking at my current M305 - made by Poly and has Bell Lifestyle.CA on the receiver. Never noticed that before. All my M305s/M14s over the years have had different markings on them.

The Chinese will stamp what ever the importer wants on them. CanAm doesn't do anything to the guns here in Canada.

CanAm guns don't have Made in China or Norinco stamped on them.

But they are made in China and exported by Norinco.

Just different high school shop classes. I am somewhat serious since I do teach high school for a loving. One of these days why wife is worried that I might go full retard. :)

On a more serious note, if your SOCOM gas cylinder ain't so tight on the barrel you cannot apply the 180 degree fix that we show you at my clinics so I actually recommend using the shims that I make and sell.

Cheers, Barney.
